Sabra Moore Continues To Lead Feminist Art Movement

Posted by: Kevin Coyle

Sabra Moore is one of MWA’s heroes, and not just because of the namesake. Moore is an activist and artist, pivotal to New York City’s feminist art movement in the 60’s. Moore’s latest book, Openings: A Memoir from the Women’s Art Movement, New York City, 1970-1992 chronicles over 20 years of her life as a leading creative force in New York City.

Moore was a core member of the influential Heresies Collective, which is important to MWA because we often post excerpts from the famous Heresies art journal in our Heritage section.

Moore will be talking and about her recently released memoir in her former hometown of New York City on November 3rd at Printed Matter Inc. The book is a time capsule of the era’s social change, rich with photographs, artworks and personal narratives.

She currently resides in New Mexico and continues to make socially progressive art.
