Cate Whittemore, b. 1953, is an American visual artist, set painter and writer, who has collaboratively created scenery for movies, television and Broadway hits, including the currently running “The Book of Mormon”. Realizing myriad backdrops has made her fluent in many painting styles and techniques. Her fine art embodies both classical and contemporary technique, figurative and non-objective imagery. She travels to Greece in summer to facilitate alternative painting courses, which can be found @ Skyros.com. She travels extensively to paint. She says, “Painting can be a way to access one’s subtler self, transcending the intellect. Exploring the instability and fluid logic of paint allows alternative information to flow.” In addition to her website, www.catewhittemore.com, Cate’s work can be found on Medium.com.
